I’m back running 5km in uniform, boots & a 15kg response pack for charity

I’m back running Newport Pagnell Carnival 5km in a couple of weeks, my 3rd year as runner 999 & again in uniform, boots & the trusty yellow 15kg response bag

To say I’ve trained, would be foolish, Strava has my total miles this year as 37…. Or 6 a month. So there’s no chance of me going in overtrained

Party pace as Andy Glaze would put it shall be the goal

I’m all too aware times are tough and the charity sector has been particularly bad. This is why I’m running it in aid of South Central Ambulance Charity. They fund everything we as volunteers do for South Central Ambulance Service, from training to uniform, equipment to expenses, the charity keeps 700+ volunteers responding to 999 calls across 4 counties

A donation would be incredible, a share would be epic, a high 5 on the day outstanding. Much like how in my eyes it’s the community who are the true first responders to any emergency & has its strength in numbers, it takes a community to support any cause in a variety of ways

Thank you if you made it this far, there’ll be a slow sweaty green man shuffling through the town in a couple of weeks

If you’d like to support me & other volunteers across Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire & Hampshire, you can donate here https://www.justgiving.com/page/james-mackeddie-2026
